Pequot Lives in the Lost Century

Client: Mashantucket Pequot Tribe

Budget: $175,000

The Mashantucket Pequot Museum of Connecticut initiated a study to determine how the period between the partial sale of their reservation in 1856 and the Indian Land Claims Settlement Act of 1983 affected the Pequot Community. One goal of the study was to determine how new scholarship focusing on this period could be used to enhance the existing museum exhibits. One of the products of this study was the creation of a temporary “prototype” exhibit that explored the life of the Pequot community during that time, and highlighted their resolve to hold on to their heritage and their land.
